nature of naturals
Mother Earth is our largest natural resource. She has provided well for us. Yet we continue to neglect her need to nurture, take advantage of her defenselessness, abuse her ability to regenerate, ignore her warnings and violate her very being.

People the world over, are converting to natural products, realising the benefits of going “green”. Long gone are the days of ecological, organic and natural being proud exclamations of hippies and vegans. Opting to make use of nature’s wealth and abundance of substances to replace the synthetic, and often toxic, materials we consume in our everyday lives is both rewarding and beneficial to us and Mother Nature.

Babies and children are especially susceptible to allergies caused or aggravated by synthetic and chemical ingredients found in medicines, cleaning products, skin care products and textiles. Using natural products can prevent the buildup of unnatural chemicals and synthetic compounds in the body. Ingredients such as sodium polyacrylate, the chemical responsible for absorbing moisture in nappies and transmuting it to gel has been banned in several other household products. A study at a German university revealed that using disposable nappies can lead to infertility in boys as the nappy keeps the testes at a constant raised temperature.

Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), typically found in shampoos, including baby shampoo, and bubble baths to create the foaming action, is also used to clean grease from engines. SLS can be responsible for various skin irritations. In its undiluted form, the vapours released can cause suffocation. Paraben, a popular preservative in lotions, creams, shampoos, topical pharmaceuticals and food additives is becoming increasingly controversial in its safety. One scientific study reports that parabens were found in samples of breast tumors. Our skin, the largest of the body’s organs, absorbs sixty percent of what we put on in it. The chemicals found  in skin care products are absorbed directly into our blood stream, causing a buildup of foreign substances in our systems.

Textile dermatitis is only one example of the adverse health effects due to wearing clothing manufactured from synthetic fibres. Most of us are aware of the discomforts of wearing synthetic fabric. Synthetic fabrics lack the ability to absorb moisture. This is because heat is trapped in the fibres, resulting in the body’s inability to maintain optimum body temperature, making us too hot or too cold. This is particularly dangerous for babies. The manufacturing process involved in producing synthetic textiles is very chemically dependent and releases poisonous gases into the atmosphere.

While minimising the health risks associated with using natural products is obvious, the negative impact on the environment is too substantially reduced. Natural products are biodegradable. Dangerous byproducts are not filling up landfills, contaminating underground water sources and soil. The manufacturing process to bring natural products to you does not release the same toxins into the environment that traditional manufacturing does. Natural products are not tested on animals. Animal byproducts are not included in the creation, nor are animals including in the process in any way.

Natural products taken gently and with consideration from Mother Nature are effective and safe, for you and yours, naturally.
